Smythe Roofing came to us looking to update their logo, as well as to design a stationery package. We played around with a range of logo options, but in the end realized that their existing crest insignia was the most appropriate fit for their company. As we moved into designing the stationary component, we chose a new typeface to represent their brand: Brandon Grotesque. In conjunction with the crest, the new typeface selection is not only more modern, but reads as both strong and approachable.
We knew from the get-go that Smythe Roofing’s business cards needed to evoke a sense of quality. Sticking to a monochromatic colour palette, we spent our time choosing the right papers and finishes. We printed the business cards on a duplex stock – one side is white and the other is black. Not only does this create a thicker card which feels luxurious, it also allows Smythe Roofing to write personalized notes on the white side. The final touches were a brilliant silver sleeking on selected elements, and a soft touch laminate finish for a velvety feeling in the hand.
