Accompanying the gradual re-opening of businesses within the province of BC (and beyond) are a range of new safety protocols and concerns that aim to manage the spread of COVID-19. Referred to as “second level protection,” physical barriers help limit the spread of airborne micro-droplets, especially at places of high contact such as checkout desks. We wanted to turn our design eye towards creating barriers that were first and foremost safe, but also allowed for effective interactions, looked nice, and would last into a possible second wave. Merging high-grade plywood with transparent acrylic and quality hardware, we came up with our unique take on a new state: the protective barrier.
